Alan Blackburn and my self decided to make the long drive to Skye for the Bank Holiday weekend. Contrary to popular belief Al's reputation for attracting bad weather is a myth. Orienteering Meet 2007 - Report and Results |
|
Once again we attempted to master Whinlatter Forest.
Unfortunately there aren’t too many options open due to felling and scrubby
impenetrable new growth so essentially I recycled last year’s course into a
score type event. This is a “find-as-many-as-you-can-in-a-given-time” type of
event with severe penalties for being late back. I expected that some would not
return within the allotted 60 minutes and incur penalty points (10 points per
control but minus 5 points for each minute late). 16 controls meant that 160
points were up for grabs and being 32 minutes late would wipe out the score to
give 0. Canny b****** FMC members – no one was late! They learn fast!

Margaret
Scott has donated a copy of the Fylde Mountaineering Club Journal 1956 –
1958 that had belonged to her father Jack Jowett to the club to be
preserved in the Archives. It is an interesting read. I tried
scanning it but it was not all that good so I have photographed each
of the 45 pages.
The full Journal can be viewed in the photo gallery by clicking on the above cover image.
